Andramelech - S.U.M.M.U.S L.U.X

 Written by: Nick

That image is far brighter than the one on the actual tape....oh well. Here's an oldie but a recent discovery for myself. Andramelech come from Mexico and released this demo tape, S.U.M.M.U.S  L.U.X in 2008. I'm not sure where these guys are today. This was their last album according to Metal Archives but they're apparently still 'active.'
Lo-fi as fuck. Gritty and ominous. Depraved and haunting. Vile and distraught. Just a few descriptors that could be used for this album. The title is too long to repeat over and over and quite honestly, I have no idea what the hell it means. Therefore, it's 'this album.'

Andramelech have some painful vocals. Not a bad painful, just that "I'm losing my mind" sound you get from a truly disturbed individual. They screech through a straining throat hitting all kinds of pitches without a concern in the world. The instruments are a bit all over with some over-the-top guitar moments in the three, eight minutes or more tracks. Andramelech have a great atmosphere about them. One that's chilling and despondent like visiting the fields of a forlorn battle. Lots of death and necromancy to be had with this one.

S.U.M.M.U.S  L.U.X  is noisy and lo-fi as all get out (whatever that means), so if this isn't your bag, steer clear.  It was released via Japanese label, Deathrash Armageddon.  Drop by their site and check 'em out lots of stuff going on and three digit numbers after their distro titles, make you feel like you're rich.

This is off their 2008 EP Destroyers of Cosmic Order
